Dr. Ellerby is a registered psychologist, founder, and clinical director of FPS, where he provides thoughtful leadership and compassionate care. Since 1987, he has offered expert assessment, treatment, consultation, and training in the areas of trauma, addictions, emotional and behavioural regulation and supporting individuals with complex life and mental health needs. Dr. Ellerby’s practice involves addressing vulnerability and protective factors through clinical intervention to enhance client safety and mitigate adverse outcomes. With warmth, integrity, and a commitment to collaborative care, Dr. Ellerby is recognized for creating safe spaces where individuals and professionals can address their unique challenges, build resilience, and thrive.​

Dr. Ellerby’s clinical practice is dedicated to supporting professionals exposed to difficult and distressing experiences, whether directly or through secondary exposure due to the nature of their work. He has provided care to members of the Canadian Armed Forces, Veterans Affairs Canada, first responders, law enforcement and professionals working in the areas of criminal justice, mental health, child welfare and child protection.

With a distinguished background in forensic psychology, Dr. Ellerby has developed and led programs implementing evidence-based assessment and intervention services for individuals presenting with complex patterns of harmful, high-risk, or disruptive behaviour, including aggression and problematic sexual conduct. His extensive forensic experience includes advisory roles for organizations such as INTERPOL’s Specialist Group on Crimes Against Children, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Department of National Defence, the Canadian Armed Forces, the Correctional Service of Canada, the Canadian Centre for Child Protection and the Association for the Treatment and Prevention of Sexual Abuse. Dr. Ellerby collaborates with local, national and international organizations on matters of sexual misconduct and abuse, child protection, and professional guidelines, ensuring safety and accountability within the community.​ Dr. Ellerby is also a Lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Manitoba.

For over 30 years, Dr. Ellerby has worked closely with Indigenous communities, partnering with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Elders, knowledge keepers, and cultural teachers. He is committed to offering clients opportunities for healing that respectfully integrates traditional Indigenous practices with evidence-based psychological care.
